The following search firms are ranked based primarily on the depth and quality of the searches they perform. Other factors such as readability of output, customer service and cost are also considered as secondarily important. We refuse to accept payment for placement on this page. Thomson and Thomson (T&T): Leaders in the industry. T&T owns the trademarkscan database, which is the basis for most other search firm searches. Corsearch: Very competitive with T&T for depth of search, however, when analyzing the searches they offer, we were un able to ascertain the full depth of searching for common law marks.
NameProtect: We could not ascertain the depth of their searches, nor the experience and training of their staff. And, in our opinion, they oversimplify the complexity of the trademark clearing process. However, their free search may be useful for preliminary searching on exact matches.
PopData: These folks don't even offer common law searching, and in our opinion they mislead prospective clients about the need for more extensive searching. |
